Blog EntryIs it wrong to know the truth?Jul 9, '08 3:48 AM
for everyone
From being shy to being overly expressive.. just voicing out my thoughts and how I felt had given me negative consequences. It is always like this..Being blunt and honest always lands me in trouble. Makes me think that I should just keep everything inside me and not share my thoughts. I just had to know the truth, I had to know why, I must know what is inside the closed box, even if I know that by opening the box, it might jeopardize me or everything else, subsequently, a snowball effect. Would you do what I did? by opening the box? or would you just sit back and be safe by not knowing what's in the box? I do not regret my actions..

Blog EntryOn my current phase of life...Sep 15, '07 4:50 AM
for everyone
I would say that it is pretty challenging for me so far... at times I feel that being away from home for so long makes me feel so lonely.. with a small circle of friends.. so unlike me back home, when it seems that I would know almost everyone in town.. How times have changed..

Being on this journey away from home has made me discover that I am such a bitter person.. a pessimists, they say.. perhaps it is the environment that changed me.. or has i always been like that?? So much as I want to deny the fact that I am a pessimist, I can't because I know I always think of the negative possibility of things first, rather than the positive side like how we all should do. Life is a series of trials as we know it and I am only making it harder for myself right now. Wish I could change my point of view soon to bring out a happier me.

Being to self-conscious is another thing.. but it is how I was brought up to be in my country's system. Being in a foreign country where you can always speak your mind, and address elders or lecturers with their first name is quite a big change for me. I would feel really weird when I have to address the lecturers by their first name.. and still can't do that without feeling that I have done something wrong or bad.  This can be overcome if I don't continue to be shy.. but it takes time.

I guess they are a lot of changes that I should be doing, to make my life better.. but once I managed to change it, I would have to change it back or tone it down a lot when I go home for good..

I miss a lot of things.. I wish I could turn back time.  I have always wondered how will it be if I have taken other paths..

I have taken heaps of sacrifices in hopes of a better life in the future. Now... is it worth it?? Only time will tell, I want to make it BIG one day..just like everyone else and I hope I could.

Every girl should have her pair of red shoes..

This one's material is like jelly, it's SOoooOOo comfortable when worn...and it moulds to your feet..

and it has red lace lined under the opaque synthetic material..

the downside is... it's retailed at the price of   NZD 119.99...

and yes.. I'm a sucker for shoes.. =(

Tena koe Amanda

Seeking some one to mentor for Coml 111

Manaaki Pihipihinga is a mentoring programme for Maori and Pacific

students doing BA & BCA degrees, and is run by VUW's Student Services

Mentoring sessions are for an hour weekly or fortnightly and are

discussion times.  The mentor helps students with any questions they

have from lectures and general questions about the course, and makes

sure they are on the right track with assignments. Mentees have to be

Maori or Pacific but Mentors need not be.

I am writing to ask if you would be a Mentor for Trimester 2

You have clearly demonstrated your academic capabilities to be that of

a role model and most of you have been singled out individually by

lecturers as being a recognisable academic role model for our students

who may be struggling with a course that you have already passed!

The position will require you to meet up informally each week or on a

needs-based basis and 'kôrero' 'discussion'. You are not expected to be

a tutor, nor are you thought of as a 'buddy'. You will be a mentor,

sharing academic advice with your mentees and talking about lecture

content etc. The position is also voluntary, but that doesn't mean you

won't get anything to take away with you at the end.

There are benefits - a koha, written and verbal references, a

certificate and the chance to be recognised as a likely candidate for

tutoring. Did I mention it looks GREAT on your CV?

Give me a call, email, text, or a visit if you would like to be a

Mentor this year, or if you need more info. I, along with the Mentees

appreciate your tautoko! Support!

( Does my uniform makes me look like a kendo player?? I think so.. I kick ass~  lol)

So.. yesterday was my first time working in an event function..you know.. those  un-noticeable people that walk around with drinks in their tray offering drinks for people attending the function and then serving their 3 course meal and clearing their plates when they finish?? yeap.. so I was one of them..

The drinks are heavy as.... made my wrist hurt.. had like... 6 wine glasses and 2 flutes in the tray.. hmm it might be no problem for some people but i haven't been doing this for half a year or so now..

Anyway..I've worked for 7 1/2 hours.. nope the lunch didn't take that long.. it ended at about 3.30pm ish.. the tiring thing is the clean up!! Imagine that you have 100x of everything to wash and polish!! Starting with 2x entree plates, entree forks and knifes, main plates, main forks and knifes, dessert spoons, dessert cups and plates, and each person has 3 different glasses on their table.. not forgetting those wine glasses that we had poured at the start of the function where everyone at the function mingled around with drinks.. bla bla... yeah you guys can do the math! not forgetting heavy lifting of all the burning hot washed plates and cutleries into the bench for polishing.. it's damn hot and yes i've burnt my fingers a few times.. and my right thumb's skin peeled!! (just a small piece of skin)

Just some sneak peeks that do not do the justice..(the whole kitchen was full)

                                        A dish-washer's nightmare

ah... lovely sight..creme brulee anyone???

sigh.. one sad thing is I lost the mobile phone trinket that smei gave me before I come to NZ.. I think it must have been dropped somewhere when I was working. (mobile phone was kept inside the apron) so saddddddddddddddddddd.. It was a nice mobile dangling thingy..

yay!!!!!! so happy that I got myself a job (casual position) at the St James Theatre!!

" It is one of New Zealand’s finest Edwardian influenced theatres and a wonderful example of early 1900’s architecture. Inside, the auditorium was highly ornamental, featuring elaborate cherubs, plaster curlicues and painted and gilded lyres, horns, harps, dancing cupids and masks representing Comedy, Drama and Opera."

It is also the home of the Royal New Zealand Ballet!

check it out here and here.

I sent my CV in last Saturday and I got a call from one of the managers today (Tuesday). Arranged an interview right away today after my classes in Uni and the next thing I know, I was already selected based on my cover letter and CV!! yippee!!! The manager commented that I have a professional CV.. hehe.. how does it look like? it has a similar size of a kiwi fruit, but it doesn't have the 'furry' skin.
It has a shiny and smooth green colour skin..
the insides of a feijoa fruit.. pretty awesome..isn't it?

how do you eat it then? aren't those just seeds? oh well.. just eat it like how you will eat a kiwi fruit!

it's sweet and has this really fruity taste.. I've had feijoa drinks before.. but this is the first time I've seen the fruit and eaten it fresh!.. yum!!
